August-December 2007

  • Historic first meeting of the WASB, WASDA and WEAC Executive Directors and Governance held August 21st, 2007
  • Gabe Kolesari, WASB President issues an unprecedented invitation to the WASB Convention
  • WASDA Executive Director Miles Turner attends a WEAC Board of Directors Meeting
  • WASB Executive Director John Ashley attends a WASDA Board of Directors Meeting
  • 14 original members are willing to be honest with perceptions of history between the associations which leads to a very useful dialogue
  • A W3 Group Panel presents at the WASDA Fall Superintendents Conference
  • Developed a SWAT Analysis of Collaboration

January-June 2008

  • WASB President addresses the WASB/WASDA/WASBO Joint Convention regarding the W3 Group
  • Miles Turner and John Ashley attend a WEAC Board of Directors Meeting
  • The W3 Group creates its Mission Statement
  • Group participates in "How much can you win" Exercise
  • WEAC Governance attends the WASB/WASDA/WASBO Joint Convention
  • Meetings start taking place the WASDA School Leadership Center
  • Group participates in Collaborative Goal Setting
  • All Boards give the OK for Executive Directors to meet
  • W3 Group agree to "heads up" communications

July-December 2008

  • Group creates a shared message
  • Group explores common interests and how to fund the process
  • W3 Group Panel presents at the WASDA Fall Superintendents Conference
  • The W3 Group identifies first project statement creating the collaboration forum
  • The W3 Group discusses quality needs in a new State Superintendent
  • The W3 Group works on transparency and "Walk the Talk"

January-June 2009

  • WEAC has a booth at the WASB/WASDA/WASBO Joint Convention
  • W3 Groups manage contentious Legislative agendas
  • The W3 Group expands focus to include collaboration, student success and data collection
  • The first group of school districts meet to discuss collaboration producing graphical notes (available on the Documents and Resources page) in March and May

July-December 2009

  • Three initiatives are identified for development:
    • Tool Kit for Collaboration
    • Data Perception of Public Education
    • Definition of Student Success
  • The W3 Group discusses how to work through differing state budget/policy situation
  • W3 Group Panel presents at the WASDA Fall Superintendents Conference
  • Second Forum of initial school districts is held in October

January-June 2010

  • WEAC has a booth at the WASB/WASDA/WASBO Joint Convention
  • Fond Du Lac School District presents Collaborative Practices Story at the WASB/WASDA/WASBO Joint Convention
  • The WASB, WASDA and WEAC Executive Directors attend a AWSA Board of Directors Meeting
  • The W3 Group Website is created
  • The W3 Group discusses "No Confidence" votes
